The Taylormade Qi35 Driver Is Coming
Golfers,
It’s one of the slowest golf news weeks of the year, with no tournaments from the big professional tours as everyone gears up for the new year. But don’t worry, there’s plenty talk about.
A few big names decided it was their time to tease big projects, or get injured in time for their 2025 debuts. Let’s take a look at what to look forward to in the new year and what’s happening in the golf world this week!

Scottie Scheffler is out for 3 - 4 weeks after a freak accident on Christmas Day left shards of glass in his right hand. He’s set to have surgery to remove the glass and will be out of the field for The Sentry this week.
The much-anticipated Happy Gilmore 2 trailer dropped on Christmas Day, giving a sneak peak into the sequel staring Adam Sandler. He’ll reprise his iconic role and will be joined by Travis Kielce and Bad Bunny for a 2025 release on Netflix.
TPC Sawgrass general manager Derek Sprague has been named the new CEO of the PGA of America, becoming the first club professional to take the role in 20 years. Sprague will be leading the organization through significant changes in the golf industry.
The Crypto.com Showdown brought in a total 625,000 viewers for the match between Rory Mcilroy & Scottie Scheffler vs Brooks Koepka & Bryson Dechambeau. This would be considered the second worst exhibition in “The Match” series. This was seemingly a massive mis-read from the executives in the board room for the interest in a PGA vs LIV match.
Garret Clark & Grant Horvat wrapped up their 8-day Florida road trip match with an epic finale at Bay Hill Club & Lodge. Grant already won the series by points a few videos ago, but ended with a scoring average of 72.2 and Garret an average of 75.2. Both incredibly impressive for the courses they played.
Viktor Hovland had an all too common run-in with his bed frame over the holidays and broke his little toe. Despite the mishap, he’s still in the field for the Sentry next week. He came all that way to Hawaii, and he’s not going to let this stop him!
Taylormade golf teased the launch of the new Qi35 driver for January 7th. They’re claiming that golfers will “Unlock Another Level”. What golfers will be leveling up, and whether it will make a difference to players is yet to be seen.
Bryson Dechambeau has been subtly teasing a cameo appearance in the Happy Gilmore sequel with a few photos on instagram with Adam Sandler and on the set of the movie. This could be legendary.
As we close out the new year, there’s no shortage of excitement brewing for the 2025 seasons. The golf world is already gearing up for an action packed year ahead so we’ll need to keep our eyes peeled as things are about to get interesting!
Best,
